Beautiful design
Awesome design. Great sound for it's size. I do have the jbl partybox so I wasn't satisfied with the sound but they're not even in close to being comparable in category. If you're looking to cover just a small area like an office or bathroom, it's very portable and sleek speaker.

Good Sound, Bluetooth Convenience
This is a hefty speaker. I got this one to replace some smaller Sony XB puck speakers which were unfortunately stolen. Compared to the pucks, this LG’s bass is not nearly as strong even though it advertises “bass you can feel”. I tend to favor a bit of heavier bass with my music and this speaker falls slightly short of that, which I didn’t expect given its size and the LG/celebrity endorsement. Regardless, the bass is not nonexistent, and good-sounding music can still be pulled from this speaker. To do so, you’ll want to download two separate apps. (1) LG XBoom, and (2) LG ThinQ. The LG XBoom app allows you to stream music from your device to the speaker via Bluetooth. It has volume & equalizer controls as well, and it allows you to control the light feature on the speaker. The LG ThinQ app also allows you to stream music from your devices via Bluetooth. The app acts like an LG product hub in that you can connect your other LG devices to it and control them from your phone.Once you have your sound preferences dialed in you can enjoy music most anywhere, even poolside as its IP67 designation allows for exposure to water without damaging the device. The volume can be turned up quite a bit without suffering from distortion and is easily loud enough to annoy the neighbors. The sound is crisp and clear. This would make a good speaker for your college-bound son/daughter as they or their friends can easily connect to the speaker and stream the music of their choice without the need for a tuner or it even being plugged into a wall outlet.

Obnoxious light show with this “boom box“
The sound on this is good, but there’s an obnoxious light show that goes on with the intensity of the sound which I don’t want at night time.

What You Need To Know: Set Up, etc..
There is so much to write about this boom box. I want to focus on what you need to know before you decide on whether to buy this.Set up: This is the most challenging part of the product, in my opinion To get full control out of the system, you can’t just download the XBoom App. You also need to download the LG ThinQ app as well. I did this on my phone and my iPad. Then you have to register your XBoom (note: you’ll need your serial number, which is underneath the elastic strap and quite small. I photographed it and blew it up so I could read it). The system couldn’t find my particular model based on the serial number I provided, so I just chose a model from the dropdown menu. When the ThinQ app didn’t find my XBoom , I restarted the device (tablet and phone) and they finally recognized he XBoom . So in all, that was three fairly complicated steps to get to where you can play with the sound coming out of your XBoom. The next time I went back to my iPad to play the XBoom it was as though I handn’t done any of the above steps and had to do them all over again. I’ll chalk that up to user-error, but still, it was a lot to go through to set it up again.I was never able to get the apps to work on my phone. It is a slightly older phone, so perhaps there is a compatibility issue?Sound Quality: Bottom line, the sound quality - even if you aren’t in the app - is rich, robust and shockingly good. The Bluetooth connection between the speaker and my devices was easy and seamless. So I have been using the XBoom in whatever factory settings it comes with. I’d love to take full advantage of the sound customization that the XBoom apparently offers, so I’ll continue working on it. But even with just a simple Bluetooth connection the sound is excellent.More thoughts: The size is great for taking along on outings, bringing outside for a party, or just listening to music where you don’t otherwise have a good sound system. For me, that is my art studio. The XBoom really enriches my art time, and is very easy to take back and forth from my home to my studio. With a long-lasting battery life between charges I haven’t had to worry about it quitting when I’m in the middle of a long studio session. The design is attractive without being “over the top”. There are no unnecessary features that don’t add anything to the quality of the sound experience.Bottom line: For some, the process to get this registered and set up in the LGThinQ app might be a hassle. I am still figuring it out to a degree. But whether you fully utilize the app or not, the sound experience is worthy of five stars, especially given the price.

ONLY BLUETOOTH
just Imagin how easy it would have been to put a 3.5m jack to connect to other things other than Bluetooth.
